Donations help us to improve existing and release new open source projects. Patreon and other platforms take fees, and we are required to pay tax which can take up to 60% of the donated amount. New tax regulations for non-US citizens require us to pay tax for donations from the US since donation platforms are located there, so we are double taxed. That leaves us with less than 10% of the money from each donation. Crypto taxes take only 15% on converting to cash. We do not use payment processors to instant convert to cash, we rather hold crypto as a cash reserve.
